Liverpool's Star Issues Apology to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has shared that the Egyptian forward apologised to the entire Liverpool squad following the fallout from his televised remarks.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match following making accusations and claiming his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
He emphasized that the team's response stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” he continued.
Jones also noted that a competitor wanting to play is a positive trait. “I understand there are specific approaches you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Liverpool's form have been impressive in the period after the interview fallout. He feels the Salah's words were never meant to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and starting to win games.”
