Caution: This Story Contains Graphic Accounts of Shootings.

Combatants laugh as they travel on the bed of a pick-up truck, hurrying alongside a line of nine corpses and moving in the direction of the setting Sudan's sun.

"Observe such accomplishment. Observe this act of ethnic cleansing," a fighter cheers.

He beams as he points the recording device on himself and his companion fighters, their paramilitary identification clearly shown: "The victims shall all die in this manner."

These individuals are celebrating a mass killing that humanitarian officials suspect resulted in the deaths of over thousands of civilians in the Sudanese metropolis of al-Fashir in recent weeks.

A City Severed from the Outside

Following their control of the city under siege for nearly two years, from the summer the RSF advanced to consolidate its position and restrict the surviving inhabitants.

Orbital photography show that fighters started to erect a massive earth barrier - a elevated sand barrier - around the boundaries of the city, blocking access routes and preventing aid.

While the blockade escalated, 78 individuals were slain in an militia assault on a mosque on 19 September, while the international organization stated dozens more were slain in aerial and heavy weapon strikes on a displacement camp in the autumn.

Graphic Recording Shows Unarmed People Gunned Down

At dawn on 26 October the militia conquered the remaining government strongholds and captured the main headquarters in the urban area, the main facility of the Military Unit, as the army pulled back.

Among the most disturbing footage to appear and analysed depicted the results of a mass killing at a campus structure on the western of the city, where numerous dead bodies were observed scattered throughout the area.

An elderly person dressed in a robe sat isolated amid the victims. The individual rotated to glance as a combatant armed with a rifle walked down the staircase towards the victim. pointing his weapon, the shooter fired a one round at the victim, who fell to the ground motionless.

"How come is this individual still breathing," one militiaman cried. "Execute him."

Satellite images taken on October 26th indicated to confirm that killings were also performed on the thoroughfares of al-Fashir, based on a analysis published by the academic research center.

An eyewitness who provided testimony stated the individual had witnessed "many of our kin being massacred - they were collected in a single location and all murdered."

Paramilitary Leaders Try to Implement Damage Control

Following the events that came after the massacre, paramilitary chief acknowledged that his fighters had carried out "wrongdoings" and announced the events would be examined.

Included among apprehended was following a investigation recording his executions. Carefully choreographed and modified footage posted on the RSF's official Telegram platform show him being taken into a cell at a detention facility on the edges of the city.

At the same time, the paramilitary force and affiliated social media profiles started attempting to alter the narrative.

Content depicting its fighters handing out assistance to residents were disseminated by several accounts, while the militia's media office published several videos claiming to demonstrate the compassionate treatment of government detainees.

Despite the online campaign being used by the paramilitary, their conduct in the city have generated worldwide anger.
