19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with former trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first championship after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

Victory also means he has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game break points in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
